📚 Priority Rules

FCFS

First Come, First Served — process in arrival order

SPT

Shortest Processing Time — quickest jobs first (minimizes avg flow time)

EDD

Earliest Due Date — most urgent jobs first (minimizes max lateness)

Critical Ratio — (time remaining)/(work remaining). Lowest first.

💡 Key Insight

No single rule is "best" for everything. SPT minimizes average wait time, but EDD prevents any single job from being extremely late.

Practice Operations: In Module 1, you set job priorities 1-6. This is exactly the same decision—which order completes first affects when everything else finishes!
